On the morning of June 12, Prof. Guangming Pan, a member of the International Statistical Institute and a professor of Nanyang Technological University, was invited to give a lecture entitled Factor Modelling for Clustering High-dimensional Time Series for the teachers and students of the School of Statistics and Data Science. Liu Xiaohui, vice dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science, hosted the lecture.

In the lecture, Prof. Guangming Pan introduced the application of factor modeling in clustering high dimensional time series deeply. At first, he introduced the basic concepts and principles of the factor model, and then explained in detail how to apply the factor model to high-dimensional time series clustering.

Finally, he demonstrated the effectiveness and superiority of the factor model in high-dimensional time series clustering through examples. This method can effectively deal with high-dimensional time series data and can be applied to many fields, such as finance, healthcare and so on.

The lecture was rich in content, covering the basic principles of factor modeling, high-dimensional time series clustering and other aspects. After the lecture, Prof. Guangming Pan interacted with the teachers and students and answered their questions, providing a rare learning opportunity for them.
